Studio A.

Dearest Peoples!

I've started out (see bottom for details) on a new limb of the great, beautiful budding tree of photography, of which I am having a wonderful time climbing. I have just 'finished' setting up a home studio in my very sweet sister-in-law/neighbor's attic, (Rachel, thank you.) of which she so darlingly gave me a wing, and, with some obliging clippies, yards of white paper, sheets and some black corduroy (that still needs to be ironed) I have begun.

I am fascinated.

And now, I give you my first model...
This Altoid can.
Hence, the third reason for my studio's name. A, for my name, that it's all in an Attic, and that my first thing to be photographed was this lowly mint tin.

Here's my white backdrop.
And the black one.
 Here's me!
Really pleased and excited about it all and the learning ahead.
Nikon's self portrait. (I love thee, small camera!)

And now for the details (you're at the bottom now, dear).

Studio A. is opening and below are the rates. Please email me at calathora@windstream.net to schedule an appointment.

Studio A.'s Rates:
1 hour Studio session-$30.00 (at least 10 images)
1 hour Woods/Outdoor session -$30.00 (at least 10 images)
Afternoon session (1:00 to 5:00) at client's home or elsewhere--$50.00 (at least 15 images) This requires pickup and return of photographer and baggage by client. :)

My goals for Studio A. are the following:
  • To capture the beautiful seasons of life in you and your family for the glory of our Creator! To inspire your grandchildren. To make you laugh and cry 50 years from now.
  • To do the above in an affordable manner
  • To increase my experience and to fund equipment and software improvements
  • Level 1 (where I am right now) is an exited hobbiest/amateur who would be honored to have you as a model and would love the extra pocket money. :) At this point you would be paying for a non professional and your images will be indicative of that. However, as my skills increase (won't that be awesome!?) I may pursue a more competitive price with the then improved product. One must start somewhere at whatever skill level they're at and give it their best! I love. love. love photography, and will heartily apply all my currant knowledge and skill to bring you the most timeless images I possibly can.

Hoping to see you through my lens soon!

Most warmly,

Adeline

Italian opera...

...is making me almost cry this morning. Andrea Bocelli's version of Nessun Dorma is almost heart stopping. (you can find it online if you like, or you probably have a copy of it) But, then,  turn the volume up as loud as you can, step outside where the air is so crisp and smells so fresh it stings your eyes with wonder, and listen with your eyes closed...

In wonder of music and the gift of hearing and notes and melodies today.
A dream would be, to sit in the center of something like this during Beethoven's piano concerto no 5 "Emperor"- II...

Andrew's House Moving

Hello y'all!

Last Saturday was the day Andrew's little house moved from here...
...to here!

Our kind neighbor, Mr. H., offered to give us the little house he grew up in if we would care to have it and move it out to the farm. It was built in the early 1900's and is the sweetest little cottage ever! We, of course, were honored and so grateful to the Lord and to Mr. H. for this tremendous gift and direct answer to prayer. Isn't God amazing!?

So, begins the saga of the transport of The Little White House to it's current spot on earth, The Hill beside The Corner, now known as "Over at Andrew's House". It is so exciting to see the Lord providing houses for our brothers and sons. It's really, neat, too, because this house is one we have passed a million times, as it was just up our road, and seems almost like an old friend. May God bless this little house...
The sun coming up.
Sam and I trek over before they move it, for pictures and looks.
Here's Tongue of Flame (the CRV) and Sam, for scale. ( and that's me, in shadow, waving.)
(Sam loves his morning coffee)
HUGE clasp thing, there. It was incredible watching the whole process.
("Beautiful isn't it? It took me half a lifetime to invent it.")
This creepy hippie woman was snooping around when we got there.
"Nice boards for my tree house."
Didn't even have shoes, poor lady.
I wonder if that was painful.
We come to the future site!
(See Cleve's tiki hut? Destined to become Andrew's tropical garage, no doubt!)
"Hello Mr. Cow!!!" (I love Aunt Lisa's jokes)
 Hello! Driving around with Sam
Goodness. Every picture of me that morning makes me look either vagrant or mauled. Whatever.
The blackberries are blooming!!! They are so tiny, and so beautiful. The other day Mama took us all out in the woods and showed them to us. I love the way Mama is in 'wide eyed wonder', as Uncle Larry says, of God's tiniest treasures.
Half opened.
They're like a carpet under the pines.
Driving past...
...pines and looking through them to the neighbors!
Andrew getting everything ready for...
...this! Me and Mom and Marth drove up there to watch and it was AWESOME!!!  (see the houseage coming down the road?)
Forsooth! A Cottage traverses down the lane atop horseless carriage.
'Ze wonderful policeman who helped us with it all. (He was super nice, and even let us take his picture)
These guys were really amazing to watch.
Passing us...
It's one of the oddest things I've ever seen, a house going down the road.
So excited watching in the car!
A house for their 4th son...
One guy had this huge pole that he moved the cables with. The other guy got stuck with moving the branches, poor fellow.
Martha
After the guy moved the cables, he glued a large bunch of cotton on the  end of the ramp sticking out off the front of the house. This was to break the wind and acted as a sort of wind sock.
Ha! That was a joke. Did I get ya? :D I know I got at least one person. (I love you!!) The clouds really were gorgeous that day.

Above, Marms and Marth watch with our wonderful, wonderful neighbors. Many thanks to them for all their help with the fencing. They are quite a blessing.
Andrew with his house. Now all he needs is to "put a girl in it..." .  Or a biscuit-maker, as Mr. R. says.
Paul Man. You are quite a photographer, Young Speclet.
Back and forth, helping with the mover's needs. Aw. Chainsaws and horses look precious together.
Another house shot.
I asked this gentleman to pose and I was impressed with his stance. Very dreamy, my boy.
"What we do now is we turn ourselves in."
"But they'll put us in prison!"
"What, one, two years? When we get out, we'll have our stake."
"Stake? What stake?"
 "The re...The rewar-DUH."
Our precious Dad

(on to page two)
They searcheth for grubs for our noonday respite.
The Crew takes Lunch Break
So strange seeing a house tilting.
A group shot by the house. I love this picture, it's so classic. (Carlo's hip action makes me laugh. LOL, lovely paint clothes, Sis! ;D The green in your  kitchen is perfect, by the way)
Mama got us the bestest lunch ever, with hot coffee, too, and pickles. Pickles are good.
Grand Mama's linens make your heart smile, and sigh with delight...
The picnic lunch at Over at Andrew's House
Sam stands stately, surrounded by Saplings.
We made a big bowl of milk shake - we had to eat it quickly - no problem!
Edwin.
I love you. And your smile, so much.
(You need a wee hair trim in the frontish regions, child. Poog will groom thee, hath no fears.)
The Picnic continues
"Who says I had mustard?"
Here's a picture of Paul, taken just for Lise! (We love and miss y'all!!)
Sam, I love this one of you, it makes me laugh out loud.
John, you bring much laughter. (I love you)
Green, the color! With polka dots and a watch. Me likes, as William would say.
"Well. It has a slight crunch, and a sappy flavor."
I wonder what my grandchildren will cherish?
The little boys made me laugh when they quoted Sparkler off Little Dorrit for this picture.
"Yes, my dearest love?"
LOL....
"Oh, stop it grass-you're too funny."
One of the joys of boyhood.
On our way back to the house we passed Mike and two of his boys in their garden-it was so precious-Mike Jr. was overseeing Mikey and Carlos planting their first garden, and they were just ecstatic. Mikey was planting seeds (while working on his tan) and Carlo was showing me which row was his and which was Mikey's. Michael Jr. is such an incredible father. I love watching my brothers be dads. It is beautiful.
These house movers were truly artists. We were so blessed to have such skillful men to do this work. They maneuvered the house through pines and, without backing up and down, got the house to the exact angle and spot that was needed. Simply genius.
"Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings and not before obscure men."

The boys spent the rest of the day putting back all the fence work that had to be taken down for the moving. Samuel's hat. Magnifico.
John models a catching outfit for fence work.
I love the way my little brothers enjoy their work. They work so hard and have so much fun together. That is a real joy.
Georgia
They got all the fences done before supper and I so enjoyed looking through all the pictures Paul got that afternoon.
Chevy's are the best, forever. (I know this is not a truck, but suburbans are beastly, too)
Men's boots and Georgia dirt.
And Jeans.
Bliss. :) You gotta love your men!!!

The moving of the house, chatting with the neighbors, then that picnic with the whole family, gathered under the pines trees, watching the movers do that last few things while we ate Mama's burgers and drank her coffee, talking, laughing, tossing a few pickles...it was a really special time that I love remembering. Daddy led us in prayer over the little house and for all who will live there. There is now another part of ground that has been covered in a memory soaked in joy and thanks to The One who created it, our Father Who gives good, good gifts to His children.

Happy evening, kind friend.

Love,

Adeline
